Colloidal Soft Matter under Shear Flow

Summary

Suspensions of colloidal mixtures and mixtures of colloids and flexible polymers will be studied under the influence of shear flow by a particle-based mesoscale simulation technique. Special emphasis will be on the influence of the multicomponent nature of the mixtures on their structural, dynamical, and rheological properties as well as shear-induced phase modifications. Moreover, the dynamical and transport properties of such systems will be elucidated in the simultaneous presence of shear flow and a gravitational field, which is expected to modify the flow-induced phase behavior.
