Abstract
Claus Heussinger: „Elasticity and Rheology of Soft and Biological Materials”
Universität Göttingen
The seminar will cover aspects of the visco-elasticity of cytoskeletal structures, such as crosslinked filamentous biopolymer bundles. The focus will be on describing the interplay between elastic degrees of freedom (filament/crosslink deformation) and the possibility of crosslinks to repeatedly un/rebind from/to the filaments.
A second topic deals with the rheological properties of flowing suspensions (or granular systems) close to a jamming transition. I want to ask how the divergence of the viscosity at the jamming transition can be connected to microscopic properties of the particle trajectories as measured, for example, in terms of the van Hove function.
